BRACE are a Bristol-based charity who specialise in funding research into dementia. BRACE have raised over £20 million towards world class clinical and laboratory research into Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia to find better treatments, achieve earlier diagnosis and one day, a cure.

An estimated 850,000 people in the UK currently have dementia. Dementia predominantly affects older people and after the age of 65, the likelihood of developing dementia roughtly doubles every five years.

The challenge we face is that dementia research remains troublingly underfunded: for every £10 spent on dementia care and support, just 8 pence is spent on the research to defeat it. Let’s get together to raise some much needed funds to hopefully find a cure for Dementia!

We have teamed up with local organisation specialising in offering care at home, Home Instead to offer a free information session for anyone interested in learning more about dementia.

It will cover what dementia is, the types of dementia and symptoms, and the benefits of engagement in activities for those living with dementia.

This is a free community event and there will be free refreshments on offer.
