Harold Stephens Charity Golf Day 2020
Twenty three players joined Harold Stephens at Shirehampton Golf Club on Thursday 10th September to play a Texas Scramble competition to raise money in aid of BRACE Charity.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather as the teams took to the course from 10am after enjoying bacon rolls. The winning team were Paul Hankinson, Andy Cavanna, Ciaran Keane and Alex Major with a fantastic score of 58.1.
£160 was raised from two ‘nearest the pin’ competitions which were won by Phil Miners and Alex Major as well as a ‘longest drive competition’ which was won by Eric Reddy. The winners graciously donated their prize money to BRACE. A magnum of champagne for the prize draw was also generously donated by Alan Rogan.
Over £700 was raised on the day, with the grand total still to be confirmed due to late donations trickling in.
Thank you to all who made it such a wonderful day and to the generosity of all involved!
BRACE funds world class clinical and laboratory research into Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia to find better treatments, achieve earlier diagnosis and one day, a cure.
It stands out as an important charity with a unique role. The challenge faced is that dementia research remains troublingly underfunded: for every £10 spent on dementia care and support, just 8 pence is spent on the research to defeat it.
BRACE is a regional charity, supporting researchers in South West England and South Wales. Its area of benefit is global - the whole human race – anyone, anywhere who might one day develop dementia so the work BRACE are funding is crucial.
