Dementia Action Week 2025: Let's Talk, Learn, and Take Action
Each year, Dementia Action Week brings communities together to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage action that improves the lives of people affected by dementia. In 2025, this vital awareness week runs from 12th to 25th May, and the theme is all about diagnosis and educating audiences on the most common symptoms of dementia.
Know the Signs. Take Action.
It’s not always easy to spot the signs of dementia and many people delay seeking help because they don’t recognise the symptoms.
We encourage everyone to explore these helpful tools from Alzheimer’s Society:
Dementia symptoms checklist – there are 19 questions to answer and you can download and print your responses which may help when speaking to your GP.
Signs and symptoms of dementia – Learn what to look for and when to seek support.
Early diagnosis can make a big difference so if you're concerned about yourself or someone you know, don’t wait.
At Harold Stephens, we’re proud to be taking part in Dementia Action Week - because dementia doesn’t just impact individuals, it affects families, carers, and the wider community.
Let’s Talk Dementia – Watershed, 17th May
We’re a sponsor of ‘Let’s Talk Dementia’, a free ‘one stop shop’ dementia information event in at the Watershed in Bristol on 17th May 10.30am - 4.30pm, designed to open up honest conversations about dementia. Come along to speak with our team, ask questions, and connect with organisations and individuals who understand.
Whether you’re worried about your memory, caring for someone with a diagnosis, or just want to learn more, we’ll be there to help with the financial and estate planning you may need to consider.
Free Later Life Financial Planning 'Lunch & Learn' Talk – Lovell Place, 19th May
On Monday 19th May, we’re also hosting a free Lunch & Learn session at Lovell Place, open to the community. The session will focus on:
Financial planning – for now and for the future
Understanding inheritance tax and leaving a legacy
Lasting Powers of Attorney
No one knows what’s around the corner and having plans in place for whatever comes next provides peace of mind. Places are limited, so please get in touch if you’d like to attend.
Our Commitment: Dementia Friends & BDAA Partnership
Every member of the Harold Stephens team is proud to be a Dementia Friend, trained to understand dementia and offer compassionate support.
We also work closely with Bristol Dementia Action Alliance (BDAA) to ensure our work always reflects best practice in dementia-friendly care. We’re also a partner of the Happy Days Hub, a fantastic community resource where you can find dementia information and support on Mondays and Fridays. This is a small part of our commitment to creating safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone.
