Budget 2025: Mansion House Speech

Over the summer, the Chancellor used the now annual, and seemingly ever-increasing in important Mansion House speech, to announce a range of proposals on the regulatory front which may rear their head in November’s budget. The main financial planning points of interest for those in later life were:

Consumer Investment Promotion: The Government will begin a campaign next year to encourage individuals to invest their savings in the stock market. Banks will start sending investment opportunities to savers with cash sitting in low-interest accounts for the first time.

ISAs: Further to the widely anticipated cut in the cash ISA contribution limit, Rachel Reeves repeated the ‘reform to improve returns for savers’ mantra and vowed to continue discussions on how this could be achieved. However, the only solid ISA update was confirmation that Long-Term Asset Funds can be included in stocks and shares ISAs.
