Budget 2025: Details On Face-to-Face Later Life Financial Planning Event

As you will know (how could you not?!) the Budget is all set to take place on 26th November, and its promising to be a cracker.

We know there’s going to be a “fiscal black hole”. The questions are “how big?” and then “and what does this mean for taxation and spending?”

Against a background of low predicted economic growth/productivity, the continuing desire to “repair public services”, the manifesto promise not to increase taxes on working people and that “non-negotiable” commitment to satisfy the primary Stability Rule (current expenditure being funded by current income) the likelihood of tax increases is very strong. But what increases to what taxes?

The Think Tanks have been thinking and eloquently expressing those thoughts and there has been, and will continue to be, speculation (without official confirmation) on what might come to pass in relation to key tax and financial planning strategies, with a very strong focus on business and personal income taxation, pensions and, of course, capital taxation – capital gains tax, inheritance tax (IHT) and property tax. We can also, no doubt, look forward to more anti-avoidance legislation to “stop the leaks”.

Taking stock of new announcements to come and those already made and factoring what they might mean for later life financial planning strategy will be fundamentally important. Essentially, a time to assess and plan action and be pro-active. And don’t forget that the changes to those IHT-relieving BPR investments come into force on 6 April 2026 as well as those much-discussed pension/IHT changes from 6 April 2027.

Communicating these changes and what they mean to you will be fundamentally important. Perhaps more important than ever to those in later life.

As ever, we stand ready to help those in later life, provide an analysis of the changes, where they leave people in later life and what the changes mean for later life financial planning strategy – all the challenges and opportunities.

We will therefore provide:

A complimentary face to face event with later life chartered financial planning specialist Richard Higgs. The session will cover the economic background and, of course, the totality of tax and spending changes and what they mean for later life financial planning strategy. Throughout the session guests will have the opportunity to ask questions which relate to their own specific circumstances.
