BRACE Dementia Research - 1987 Foundation Event

On Tuesday 20th May, we were thrilled to sponsor and attend the BRACE Dementia Research 1987 Foundation event as part of Dementia Action Week. Long-term supporters and people that have pledged a gift to BRACE in their Will were invited to enjoy a ferry ride around Bristol with cream tea, followed by an update from the BRACE team on the progress the charity are making and the opportunity to have a look around the SS Great Britain.

We were so lucky with the weather - an absolutely perfect day for this activity and we enjoyed talking to supporters about their motivations for supporting BRACE so much. Richard and Amy were also fortunate to speak with Dr Laura Palmer, manager of the South West Dementia Brain Bank. Dr Palmer completed her PHD with BRACE funding and has been working with BRACE for 20 years! She told us about just some of the challenges facing dementia researchers and in particular brain banks across the UK. BRACE funding is absolutely crucial in meeting these challenges to further research in to dementia causes and treatment.

In 2018, BRACE launched an initiative called the 1987 Foundation. This was created as a membership organisation to thank all supporters who pledge a future Gift in their Will to BRACE and to supporters who have made a significant contribution to the charity.

Legacy gifting and support from long-term contributors ensure vital dementia research can be continue to be funded and we are happy to be able to sponsor these annual events to help say thank you for the difference they are making.

If you would like to know more about the important dementia research BRACE fund or if you'd like to find out more about legacy gifting (especially how it can impact your estate), please don't hesitate to get in touch.
