Join us for a free seminar to help you understanding how care could be funded.
Planning for care can raise some difficult financial questions. How will care be paid for? What happens to savings and investments? What about the family home? And are there other options worth considering?
If you or a loved one has significant savings, investments, pension income or property, there may be more choices available than you realise. Understanding those choices early can give you time to consider them carefully, rather than having to make important financial decisions when circumstances have become urgent.
Join us for a free care fee planning event
Richard Higgs, an independent SOLLA-accredited financial adviser specialising in later-life planning, will talk through some of the key financial considerations when paying for care.
The session will cover:
- Understanding care costs – what to consider when planning for the cost of long-term care.
- Savings, investments and income – how your existing finances may fit into your care funding plans.
- Your home and other property – what can happen to property when care is needed and whether selling is always necessary.
- Other sources of funding – including NHS Continuing Healthcare, local authority support and Deferred Payment Agreements.
- Immediate Care Plans – an option that may provide a guaranteed income towards care costs in certain circumstances.
- Planning for the longer term – considering what might happen if care is needed for many years.
- Lasting Powers of Attorney – why having the right arrangements in place can be particularly important if someone else may need to make financial decisions on your behalf.
- The wider financial picture – how decisions about care can affect investments, inheritance and your family's longer-term plans.
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the issues that may be relevant to your own circumstances.
Who is the event for?
This event may be particularly helpful if you:
- have significant savings, investments or property and expect to fund your own care;
- are thinking ahead about the possibility of needing care in the future;
- are already paying for care and would like to understand whether your current arrangements remain appropriate;
- are helping a parent or family member with decisions about paying for care; or
- are an attorney making financial decisions for someone else.
You don't need to have all the answers before you come. The aim is to help you understand the options and questions you may want to consider.
